RIM adds 2.3M new BB subscribers
June 26, 2008 - 1:13pm Research in Motion Ltd. announced on June 25 that it had added 2.3 million new net BlackBerry subscriptions in the first quarter, bringing its total subscriber base to more than 16 million. "We are pleased to report another record quarter with revenue increasing 107% as the popularity of the BlackBerry platform continued to spread in business, government and consumer segments. Our comprehensive technology and business strategies continue to reap strong results in the market and RIM is well positioned to build on its momentum throughout the remainder of fiscal 2009," said Jim Balsillie, co-CEO at RIM. The company expects to have a solid second quarter as well. In the June 25 news release, RIM projected it would add about 2.6 million net subscriber accounts in Q2. |
