MobileMonday Toronto to hear about mobile social networking
September 17, 2007 - 8:51am Wireless networking group MobileMonday Toronto is going to give its members a high level review of mobile social networking that will include tips on how to capitalize from this growing trend. Matt Golden, senior VP of corporate development and co-founder of Tira Wireless will share the simple yet effective steps that developers of social networking applications can take to ensure their applications will work on hundreds of different devices that are currently in use. Attendees will also gain insights into the best practices, tips, tricks and strategies that can be embraced to bring social networking applications to the mobile realm. The presentation is particularly timely as a recently M: Metrics study revealed that 12.3 million consumers in the US and Western Europe access a social networking site from their mobile device in June 2007. According to the study, the US had the highest number with 7.5 million or 3.5% mobile subscribers. Other countries noted include with 1.3 million or 2.8% of subscribers, the UK with 1.1 million or 2.5% of the country's subscriber base, Spain with 751,000 or 2.3%. Germany and France also had substantial mobile social networkers with 1.9% and 1.7% of their respective mobile subscribers. |
