Study finds wired-wireless disconnect
May 23, 2007 - 8:35am Companies struggle with the new security challenges of wireless networking, according to a Cisco Systems Inc. study. Called the Mobility Quotient, the research points out that 60% of companies in a global survey maintain one security policy for wired networks, and a separate policy for wireless. This goes against network-equipment vendor attempts to sell wired/wireless networks that connect to each other. The report also notes that wireless networking is a spotty matter - 65% of survey respondents have some wireless LAN infrastructure, 55% use mobile email, and 40% have given laptops or smartphones to a majority of mobile workers. |
